Privacy Policy – Osom WP/Woo Detector Pro Chrome Extension
Overview
Osom WP/Woo Detector Pro is a browser extension that detects whether websites are built with WordPress and/or WooCommerce. This privacy policy explains how the extension handles data. The short version: we do not collect, store, transmit, or share any user data whatsoever.
Data Collection
The extension does not collect any personal data, browsing history, cookies, credentials, or any other user information. Specifically, we do not collect:
— Personally identifiable information (names, emails, addresses)
— Browsing history or web activity
— Authentication credentials or passwords
— Financial or payment information
— Location data
— Health information
— Personal communications
How the Extension Works
The extension analyzes the technical structure of web pages you visit to detect WordPress and WooCommerce signals. This analysis includes reading:
— HTML meta tags, link tags, and script elements
— CSS class names on HTML and body elements
— HTML comments (for Gutenberg block markers)
— Publicly accessible JavaScript global objects
— HTTP response headers from the visited website
— Publicly accessible endpoints on the visited website (e.g., /wp-json/, /wp-login.php)
All of this analysis happens entirely within your browser. No data from this analysis is ever transmitted to Osom Studio, any third party, or any external server. Detection results are stored temporarily in your browser’s local extension storage for the current session only and are cleared when the tab is closed or navigated away from.
Network Requests
The extension makes HTTP requests only to the website you are currently visiting (and only when you click “Run Deep Scan”). These requests probe publicly accessible WordPress endpoints such as /wp-json/, /feed/, /wp-sitemap.xml, and /wp-content/themes/*/style.css. The extension does not make requests to any other domain, API, analytics service, or tracking server.
Third-Party Services
The extension does not use any third-party services, analytics tools, tracking scripts, advertising networks, or external APIs.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, transfer, or share any data with third parties. There is no data to share — the extension operates entirely locally within your browser.
Permissions
The extension requests the following browser permissions:
— activeTab: To analyze the currently active tab’s page content when clicked.
— scripting: To inject a small detection script that checks for WordPress-specific JavaScript global objects in the page context.
— storage: To temporarily cache detection results per tab for instant display in the popup.
— Host permissions (<all_urls>): To run on any website, since the extension’s purpose is to detect WordPress on any domain you visit.
Children’s Privacy
The extension does not collect any data from any users, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update this page with the new effective date. Since the extension collects no data, we do not anticipate significant changes.
